efbContentManager manages content versions, revisions, and configurations for EFB (and other onboard) software and data across a fleet of aircraft. With all the manuals, data and software residing on EFBs this product allows you to keep track of it all as well as manage the process of updating your aircraft.
The application supports distribution of content over disparate networks, delivering content via Gatelink, Satcom, ACARS (for small content and configuration messages) and removable media to EFB hardware onboard the aircraft. The solution is based on a distributed network of nodes that share content using the BitTorrent protocol over Secure Socket Layer (SSL). BitTorrent is a mature peer-to-peer file sharing protocol, optimized for distributing large volumes of data without placing undue burden on the initial providing server. Once content has been introduced to the swarm of nodes, the group has arbitrary redundancy. This provides significant benefit, both in reducing load on the original source, and in providing redundancy against hardware failure and network outage.
