Knowledge Learning Corporation Goes Live with ULTRAMAIN v9
For most people, July 27th was just another Monday. However, for the staff at USI and Knowledge Learning Corporation, it was an historic day-- the go-live date for several v9 products! After lots of hard work by v9 Development, and rigorous testing by KLC, ULTRAMAIN Capital Projects, ULTRAMAIN Budgeting, and ULTRAMAIN Work Orders have finally been released into the wild. This gave KLC's Senior Director Rich Gleave another chance to journey to the Land of Enchantment to oversee the go-live process and gorge on Hatch red chile. The development of the Capital Projects, Budgeting and Work Order products have had their twists and turns from their origins in ULTRAMAIN v7 to its current v9 incarnation, making the go-live all the sweeter for everyone involved. Rich Gleave is excited about the impact the v9 products will have on KLC's processes, and summed up the upgrade in his own unique way:
"Although the v7 product has served us well for many years, the v9 product takes us forward in a way that is simply awesome-- in v7, we were doing space exploration in an Apollo capsule-- now we have the starship Enterprise (Terrell in the role of Dr. McCoy, I of course, fill the role of Captain Kirk)."
This particular go-live was also notable for being the first successful deployment of USI's new hosting system. And how did that go? We'll let USI IT Manager Curt Wennekamp answer that: "This is the most boring go-live I've ever been a part of." Indeed, as Curt explains,
"Everything went flawlessly from the Tech side. Due to Rich Gleave's excellent project managment, we were easily able to connect KLC's user base to the host site, and to import and export data between the users and the host."
Following the official Go-Live, the Capital Projects, Budgeting and Work Order team worked to ensure a smooth roll-out of the product. Terrell and Rich spent the week making sure KLC's financial records were being properly maintained, and Curt monitored the usage data of the hosting site. As for the tech side, Curt reported that in the inital days after the go-live, they recorded a slightly higher bandwidth than initially expected, but the usage returned to normal levels afterward. Rich Gleave commented that “aside from a handful of IT and user issues on the KLC side, the Go-Live has been outstanding – simply stellar.” He went on to say “I am incredibly proud of my team – Tom D’Antonio and Trey Hanson, Directors of Facilities Management in the East and West respectively for their contributions, and, the entire USI team. I’d like to single out recognition for a few USI employees that have gone above and beyond on this project – Anu Chaturvedi, Senthil Nathan “Nathan, Curt Wennekamp, Brian Carter, John Warren and Terrell Gray." USI looks forward to continuing to support the KLC Capital Projects hosting, as well as adding to its arsenal of v9 products! Look for more exciting v9 activities in the coming month!
