v9 Capital Projects Product Nearing Completion
The month of April has been one for the books for development manager Terrell Gray and his hard-charging team of v9 developers. They've been putting the finishing touches on not only the new Budgeting Product, but the Capital Projects Product as well. Developed initially for Knowledge Learning Corporation (KLC) to manage its facilities, Capital Projects has features that would be a valuable resource for any company that wants to plan and monitor capitalizations on their assets. According to Technical Vice President John Warren, this new module will "sit on top of" purchasing functions, so if an airline wished to plan a cabin retrofit, or a transit company wanted to install new fareboxes, this module would ensure the materials and labor are projected, solicited, purchased, and shipped properly for each project. This product works with ULTRAMAIN Budgeting to ensure proper approval of each project in respect to its impact on the pre-defined budget. On top of the imminent Capital Projects and Budgeting release, Terrell his leading the team for next month's delivery of Facility Work Orders and Offline Work Orders, which will eventually become part of the ULTRAMAIN Maintenance suite. With the new Offline Work Order functionality, technicians will be able to use hand-held devices to access ULTRAMAIN to receive their assigned work, perform the work, and later transmit the results back to the system. v9 technology means ULTRAMAIN will no longer need a 1024 x 768 screen resolution, nor does it need a persistent connection to the system for work to be properly recorded. Ironically, all this work means that Terrell will be sacrificing the personal freedom that he'll deliver to users of v9 technology. Despite working more nights than your average cocktail waitress, Terrell says he wouldn't have it any other way. "As much as I try, I just can't stop working on this stuff." noted Terrell.
